Car information

1939 six 110 1700 4-door sedan 6 cylinder. The restoration of this car has been a 20 year project. It has taken up a major part of my life and has provided me with a very challenging and rewarding hobby. I purchased the car from Neville Fisher on April 1, 1999. I had worked with Neville and his son, Les, for a few years and had the opportunity to see their Packards. While I knew very little about Packard at the time, their beauty was enough to attract me. Neville was aware of my desire to restore a classic car due to our many conversations on the subject. After having no luck at acquiring a suitable car, Neville offered to sell me the Packard. One condition of the sale was that I promised not to “hot rod” it. While this was never my intention, the promise was made and hands were shaken. This was the start of a complete body off restoration. With a lot of advice from both Neville and Les, the long journey began. My original plan was that every single part of the restoration would be done by me to truly make it “my car”. While this was not totally possible, about 95% of the work was mine. The car was put on club registration late in March 2019, just short of 20 years since purchase. While the car is not a “show car”, I am very pleased with how it has turned out. My only regret is that I never got to show Neville the finished car, but I am sure he would approve.
