Car information

1938 Packard Twelve 1608 Bohman and Swartz wheelchair accessible limousine.

This 1938 Limousine was originally purchased by Lionel Barrymore ( Academy Award winner in 1930 for a  A Free Soul) . The vehicle was modified by Bohman and Swartz to fit Lionel’s wheelchair into the rear seat. A set of runners leads to a turntable in the centre of the vehicle and a set of rails leads to the footpath. The vehicle has 72,00 miles from new and has been extensively restored although many items are original. It has been fitted with a “Young” overdrive and cruises well at 65 mph. The fuel consumption is legendary and 35 litres per 100 km is pretty standard. The torque of 600nm at 1200 rpm is astounding and akin to a steam engine. Everyone should have a Packard Twelve.
