1938 Six 110 1600 Touring Sedan

Year: 1938, Touring Sedan, Six cylinder, model 1600. Vehicle number: 1182-3526, Body number: 423043, Engine number: A2871, Registration number: SA 103947 (the original number and plates).

The 38’s picture was taken at the Packard National Rally in South Australia in 1992 (McLaren Vale). Alas it has not run since then and is safely housed in our garage under the slowest restoration/preservation known to humanity. The car was bought new by wife’s grandfather William Arnold and delivered in Adelaide on 18.06.1938. The log book and odometer confirm that it has covered 74890 miles. It was pampered for the first 20 years then it went to the farm of one of his daughters, Mary, and was used as the kids runabout and for occasional spot lighting. There is a dent in the bonnet trim caused by a 22 gauge pellet. We also used it as our wedding car in 1972. When the picture was taken in 1992 the car had recently been trailered from the family farm to Adelaide and tidied up a little for the Bay to Birdwood and the National Rally. It was of interest because it was not restored or modified but complete, mobile and still in the family.
